TO HONOR THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE STONEWALL UPRISING
New York, New York / May 28, 2019 - Alt Pronouns, a human identity brand offering bold apparel that challenges social norms and advances gender liberation, is proud to announce the launch of their illuminate Pride campaign to honor the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprisings. Ten percent of the proceeds from the Pride collection will benefit four prominent LGBTQ organziations.
The Pride collection, which is available now, includes graphic t-shirts and accessories priced from $34. Ten percent of the collection’s proceeds will benefit SAGE, the National Center for Transgender Equality Action Fund, the Trevor Project, and the Ali Forney Center.
Celebrating the work of SAGE, a global advocacy and services organization based in NYC and working to improve the lives of LGBT elders since 1978, Alt Pronouns’ Pride collection includes designs featuring important identities of the gay rights liberation movement, like Marsha P. Johnson, Sylvia Rivera, and Stormé DeLarverie.
The collection also includes designs inspired by the trans pride flag colors and designs honoring the work of Miss Major Griffin-Gracy, a community leader for transgender rights. All of which benefit The National Center for Transgender Equality Action Fund.
Designs featuring phrases like “love my identity”, “trans is beautiful”, and “protect trans kids” aim to send a message of embracing your identity and loving who you are, to highlight the live-saving work of The Trevor Project.
Honoring the work of the Ali Forney Center are colorful designs that celebrate the places and people who worked to protect homeless queer youth throughough the gay rights movement. People like Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera, whose work with S.T.A.R. sheltered homeless queer youth, and who also helped create Christopher Street Piers into an important safe haven for homeless queer youth in the past.
“Pride is a time when the LGBTQIA+ community is most visible. It is a celebration of our progress, visibility, and solidarity. With World Pride hosted in NYC this year to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising, we wanted to create a collection that illuminates the history of LGBTQIA+ liberation and the impact it has had on our future,” said Lex Evan, founder and CEO.
